Coming from the English countryside to the big city I sometimes find myself occasionally yearning for the fresh air and infinite space which I think is forever absolute in natural surroundings. I was lucky to explore the Californian coast over Christmas along Highway One, which prepared me for the wonders of America’s landscapes but when I went to Yosemite National Park recently I was completely taken aback with what I saw–I am learning living in San Francisco, how important it is to have balance; the city is vibrant and wonderful but California also offers incredible surroundings which puts some

elements of the city life (materialism/capitalism) into perspective.
