A drug-teen, a super ball and Britney Spears.

The other day I went to a EDM party. EDM, if one should trust the people who write Wikipedia articles, can be defined as “Electronic dance music (also known as EDM, dance music, club music, or simply dance) is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres produced largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals.” Well, EDM is basically any kind of electronic music to which people dance to.

So we were at that EDM party, for which the guest list line was the better part of 50 yards. And even though our names were on that silly list, too, we quickly decided not to freeze our tails off in that obscenely long line. So we paid up. Or we at least intended to, but actually didn’t, thanks to that clueless lady who didn’t see us taking the line for people who are too impatient as to stay in line all night long. So we got in there for free. Awesome.

The next step on our not very elaborate agenda was to get smashed. We didn’t do drugs, so we had to compensate for that with drinks. It’s an EDM party, after all. So after we levelled ourselves up with way too expensive drinks, we hit the dance floor which started to get crowded with all the tail-less people from that ludicrously long line outside. Anything that happened after that, I saw through rose-coloured glasses. I was in a frenzy. The music was just awesome and I completely lost it, in a good way. I was smiling like a drunk on drugs which I didn’t take. I was jumping up and down like a teenager on speed. I was singing along the scarcely scattered vocals I’ve never heard before missing every last tone, just like Britney would performing live. I was the bouncy part of a super ball. I was the music. The music was me. We were one. And if it was possible, I’d probably made out with myself. Not because of my radiant appearance, all sweaty and with shaggy hair. But simply because it would have been the culmination of a indescribable night, a teen on speed making out with the bouncy part of a super ball and somewhere in between Britney. Awesomeness.
