Academy of Sciences

Living in SF is costly, especially for us students. This is why I am always looking for those events that are either really cheap or preferrably don’t cost anything at all. A couple weeks back the Academy of Sciences held one of their four annual free days and I couldn’t miss that! I knew this would be in high demand but nothing could have prepared me for the massive queue I was in for. The end of the line was nowhere in sight and people of all ages where waiting more or less paitently to be let in. After what seemed like forever I finally made it! And it was so worth it! Not only is the builing beautifully designed but so are the exhibitions. From learning how colors work (how we see them, what purpose they serve in the animal kingdom and so on), to the evolution of men, to the fascinating world under the sea, to an actual rain forest, there was something for everyone. And if you didn’t know about this before, you can actually go up on the living roof and have a wonderful view over Golden Gate Park. I would highly recommend to go there, either on one of the free days (they have them also per SF neighborhood, so look it up!) or to swallow the pill and pay for it. And remember, get there early!
