Burgers of SF

I am a big fan of good food. You know that food that just looks amazing, tastes heavenly, and on the top of it all your body feels good after you’ve ate it? In my opinion, that is something worth living for. With that said, I am living on a student budget, and there are things I rather spend my money on than food. Therefore, I will in my next few blog posts give some recommendations on affordable and tasty places to eat in San Francisco. I have decided to divide the dishes and restaurants into several categories, so that the list won’t be too long (what, you think I eat too much???).

To start off with – burgers. There is a reason why I have dedicated a whole category to this exact “dish”. The burger is to a foreigner as me the picture itself of American food. I am not a huge fan of the greasiest ones, and I do not consider Big Mac’s as burgers. With that in mind, please enjoy these burger place recommendations.

  • CaliburCalibur

Why? This neighborhoody, tiny restaurant is one of my favorites. Their burgers are a-mazing, the staff is very nice, and the prices are likable.

What to order? I’ve actually only tried the veggie burger at this place, and there is a reason why. The veggie burger with avocado can’t go wrong!

  • In-N-Out BurgerIMG_4833

Why? This iconic burger place is always packed, but I promise you – the wait for a table and food is worth it. The prices are reasonable, the location is cool and the fries are the best I’ve tasted.

What to order? You could either go for the regular menu, or Google your way into some of the “secret” burgers not listed on the menu. Either way, make sure to have the fries! They are fresh cut and taste delicious.

  • Carl’s Jr.

Why? Even though this is a typical fast-food chain, Carl’s have a special place in my heart. It was the very first place I ate when arriving in San Francisco, and it surprised me with being actually kind of fresh and tasty.

What to order? I can’t remember what I ate that one time I was here, but I remember the menu being biiiiig. There was so many choices! In addition to a burger, I had fried zucchinis on the side, yummi.

  • Burger Bar IMG_5023

Why? This is the place to go if you want to sit down at a more fancy place. Burger Bar is on one of Macy’s top floors, and the big windows with Union Square right outside gives you quite a big city-feeling. A bit more expensive, but still okay prices I think.

What to order? Burger and fries – and a beer.
