I lived right next to a Safeway and was lucky in that it was very convenient to do my shopping. However, groceries are super expensive and don’t help that rapidly emptying bank account balance. I would suggest shopping at local independent shops mainly because of the difference in price – Safeway knows how to lock you in with their loyalty cards, convenience etc and you just end up accepting the price. If you are a person who can find that extra level of motivation to budget your weekly shop carefully, then you will be able to get much more value out of your shop.
