Hidden In The Fog #1

In this blog I would like to talk about the hidden people, people that we don’t see or people that we are not looking. I talk about the bar tender, the MUNI driver, this guy who is standing in Dolores Park… But those people contribute  to make the City By The Bay more fantastic each day.

The first person I met was Darin Wood, I saw him on Broadway Street. Darin is 39 years old and grew up in the bay area, he works in the Internet industry, and this is his interview:

-Darin why are you here in Monroe Bar tonight?

-I am here with a friend, we are visiting the bars of broadway street and we are selling some Hawaian dresses and flower necklaces to raise some money to bring some children to summer camp. Those children come from the poorest district of San Francisco and we want to help them to discover the nature and the pleasure of summer vacations.

-Do you have an anecdote that you would like to narrate?

-One day I was in a summer camp with children and we went to a lake to swim, and I discovered that a 10 year old child had a tattoo on his arm. I realized how fast those children grew up. That’s why I try to teach them that there is a life outside of where they are living.

-What is your opinion about San Francisco?

-I think this is a wonderfull melting pot such as Barcelona or Paris, where people can find theirself and loose theirself.

-Do you have one country that you want to visit?

-Yes, I do want to see the Brazil.

-Do you have a dream in your life?

-I would like everybody to stay openminded and understand each other, because everybody has his personal story that we can not judge.

-Where do you see you in 10 years?

-Still turning around the bars, still openminded, still a dreamer, still enjoying and living my life.

This is a little part of the story of Darin. Thanks to him. This was a beautifull lesson of life.
