How many people do you need to assemble 1 bed from Ikea? TEN AT LEAST!

There’s another story of our apartment life in San Francisco.

The roommates bought the new bed in Ikea online ad had it delivered to the apartment. One week later, the bed came but they forgot to buy the mattress (thought it would be included). Unfortunately, it wasn’t.

So the bed came on Sunday. Without mattress. The guys went to the mall to buy mattress and had it delivered for another $70 (I think the whole bed plus delivery was around $400 at that time). They were so mad that they decided not to assemble it..

What happened next? On Monday the group of people came to celebrate one of our roommate’s birthday and they ended up all assembling the bed. There were basically 10 people in the room, two holding each corner of the bed and trying to put it together and two people saying what to do and what not to do. While assembling the bed the various equipment was used, such as a shoe as a hammer, the empty glass bottle as a better hammer because the shoe didn’t work well. After two hours of assembling the bed we found out that the screwdriver is irreplaceable so we could not finish the bed by the night. But it was still comfy to sleep on a mattress basically IN THE BED, not on it, surrounded by the bed frame. I’d love to put the picture of the whole story so maybe once the picture post would work..

I am just wondering what comes next…? On Thursday we are having another IKEA bed delivery so we’ll see how many people we are going to invite.. Maybe someone who has a screwdriver?? :-D
