Journey to the West Part 3: White Sands

When planning our trip we saw New Mexico as just a state to drive through to get to the more interesting places. But far from it! There is a hidden gem called White Sands. It was formerly used as a sight for bomb testing (there is still an active site not far away) but is now a part of the National Parks.

Describing what makes White Sands so spectacular is a bit difficult because just saying there is a lot of white sand around just doesn’t sound that cool. But here is a picture that gives you an idea of how amazingly beautiful and otherworldly it is:
