Limey in Fog City: Moseying around Minneapolis

Moseying around Minneapolis

Hey all, apologies for my laziness when it’s come to writing this blog, I think it’s been about a month since I said I’d try and do this weekly and this is only my second post ahaha.

I’m drafting this blog as I fly over the vast and sparse State of Wyoming.

This weekend I managed to leave the State of California for the first time since I left the UK, and took a plane up to Minneapolis, MN to visit a friend of mine, and I’ve gotta stress this, Minneapolis is beautiful. The people are as nice as the stereotypes suggest (most polite airport security, Period), the centre is so modern and clean, the skyline is amongst the most amazing I’ve ever seen, and to top it all off, the city and its surrounding areas are as green as the American dollar.

While over there I saw my first College Football game, which involved the Minneapolis Golden Gophers winning 31-24 over the Colorado State Rams, and let me say this; I had a great old time. College football proved my British preconceptions of the sport correct, there were Marching bands, cheerleaders, a pretty epic half time show, lots of drunk students and more than a hint of Patriotism. It was such a surreal experience seeing a crowd of 44,000 turn up for a university game, being from a country where the current Football champions; Leicester have a stadium with a maximum capacity of 32,000.

During my time in Minneapolis I also got to cross the Mississippi River, something I’ve always wanted to do. In the night I went to a comedy show parodying the election was pretty enjoyable and went for a wander around Downtown.

P.S. Credit to whoever came up with the idea of calling the jump suit with Golden Gopher colours ‘Gopheralls’, you’re a hero!
