Limey in Fog City: University life

During my time here, I have really enjoyed the American style of teaching at SFSU, the first thing I noticed is that lecturers seem to get a considerably more discretion over the way their course is assessed and also the way it is taught, a characteristic that I really liked. All of the teachers here have their own style of learning, some opting for teaching based largely on group discussion of readings with only a few statements from the lecturer, while others like to teach in the traditional style, and others like to run their class like a seminar, with constant breaks in teaching with the lecturer asking questions. I enjoyed all three of my classes here.

Campus life at SFSU is actually pretty nice, the fitness centre is extremely cheap at only $50 for the year (if you live on campus), there are a number of nice establishments to eat, and get coffee at (Nizario’s pizza would be my recommendation), the Campus itself also has murals which I particularly like as I feel it reflects the city of San Francisco so well. Nearby the campus is a shopping mall called ‘Stonestown Galleria’, which is not particularly student friendly in terms of prices, and the selection of shops, but it is still nice to have it close by.
