List

As the weather gets colder and finals are quickly approaching, it is easy to become homesick and a little blue. Therefore, I have devised a list of things to do if you ever get moments of feeling down, thank me later.

  1. Take the time to relax and be with your thoughts. It is easy to get swept up in living the SF life style, which lets be honest, is exhausting. Take a bath, watch your favourite comedian doing stand up, read a book, whatever. Just take a chillaxative.

2. Try to eat healthy. Now this one is hard. There is so much greasy, dirty, delicious fast food, and do not by any means deprive yourself of this, but I’ve learnt the hard way that sometimes a little self control is necessary. Trust me, just eat a banana now and again and you’ll feel like a new human being.

3. Flirt with EVERYONE. Your friends, your professors, the old man in the liquor store who lets you have cigarettes on loan when you’re broke. EVERYONE. Once you start you’ll never turn back.

4. Avoid social media. This may sound silly, but if you’re feeling blue and everyone on Instagram is extraordinarily  beautiful and having the time of their lives, it can leave you feeling a little sour. Whilst social media is great for keeping in contact with our pals at home, just try not to take it too seriously. Besides whatever is happening on the internet will still be happening in an hour, so just put your bloody phone down already.

5. Be nice to yourself. Now unfortunately we life in a world that teaches us that loving ourselves is arrogant, something not desirable. You know yourself better than anyone else, so be your own friend and trust yourself. You’ve made it this far so you must be pretty great!
