Lobby Shop

As our second semester draws to an end my roommates and I have began to reflect upon our time together. We have an unfurnished apartment and have definitely made it our own. The thing that struck us the most is how much of our furnishings we got for absolutely nothing.

You see, we live in a 9 storey apartment building. That means that sometimes people leave unwanted goods in the lobby. We call these hand-me-downs “lobby treasure”. In our living room we have a sofa, two framed paintings, two ornaments, a fruit bowl and a table all at the cost of $0. Now, none of our friends have such nicely decorated apartments and we have the lobby to thank for our eclectic, yet homely little place.

The lobby isn’t just good for home furnishings. No. Twice we have inherited a GIANT bag of unwanted clothes. It’s great fun sorting through them, dividing them up between us and then returning whatever is left to the lobby for the next person who wants to try their hand at lobby roulette. Between the five of us we really have some absolute steals!

Yes, it truly boils down to us just being broke students but honestly, I guess it’s true what they say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
