If you ever want to go on a road trip, but not too far away from San Francisco, Santa Cruz is a great option. You can go there by train (which will take almost 3 hours) or just drive there, which was what we did. I believe the drive was only 1 hour and 15 minutes long and it had a pretty amazing view as well. We went there with two cars. One of them was a rental car we rented at Toyota.

When we got there, we parked the car really close to the beach and then immediately went on the pier. We had a bite to eat and saw the sea lions. Then we decided to go on the boardwalk, which is the main reason everybody comes to Santa Cruz. On the boardwalk there’s a big fair that even has rollercoasters. You can buy a day pass for 30 dollars or but a rechargeable day card. The food there is even more amazing. If you’re ever in Santa Cruz, you have to try the fried Oreo’s they sell on the boardwalk.

The weather in Santa Cruz was absolutely amazing. It was way hotter than in San Francisco, so we decided to go to the beach (which is right next to the boardwalk) as well. Of course we went swimming. It wasn’t even that cold and the waves were a lot of fun. After a while the waves were getting too big though and we nearly drowned, so it was time to get out of the water and just chill on the beach for a while. We ate some pizza and went to the arcade. They have a lot of fun games and it’s not expensive at all. We played some games, did some dancing and then drove back to campus.

If you’re interested in surfing, I would suggest going here too. It’s a really fun city to spend your day and it’s really easy to get there.
