Second Visit to Oregon during Winter Vacation

Last time I visited Oregon was back in thanksgiving break. It was a nice vacation I spent with my friend’s family in Detroit, Oregon which is located in the central part. Since then, I had been wanting to come back there rather than exploring new places in other parts of America.

This time, I got to stay at Ryan’s in Vancouver, Washington. He is my friend I met at my university back in Japan. Across the river near the house is Oregon. It only takes 15 mins to Portland by car if traffic is not too bad.

So I wound up being around the city, which was awesome. Portland is a beautiful city with neatness. Not to degrade San Francisco or Los Angeles, however, Portland keeps clean images better than those major cities. Refer to the comedy series, Portlandia if you have time. You will see bunch of health fanatics and nature lovers in Portland, as of the stereotype. I think it has good influence over people like me :P

I made it back to Central Oregon for snowboarding. Ryan’s family has a giant house near the mountains called Sisters. He drove car and I was just sitting in the front seat. His coworker and the girlfriend came along with us in the same car. Sheet ice was such a bummer for driving all along, but we made it there safely. The snow was so deep and powdery and ready for us. We were all satisfied.

The temperature was around -4F. I’ve never experienced winter sports under such a cold temperature. You can easily tell that I caught a cold after that. After going back to Ryan’s, I stayed inside the house for four days to cure my sickness.

Ryan works on weekdays. So, I just had to recover from the sickness by the next weekend for the trip to Seattle. It was a tough time with high fever, headache and sore throat. I kept watching Netflix shows til then.

I train parkour/tricking as well as studying International Relations. Photos will be posted to share with you the progress of my training every now and then. Stay tune for seeing my life in SF!
