01 Sep SURFING IN SANTA CRUZ

If you want to take the weekend of and just relax on the beach, go swimming, eat, drink and surf – go to Santa Cruz! If you take the Caltrain to San José and then bus, it takes about 2,5 to 3 hours. You can also rent a car and drive if you want to get there quicker.

We spend the night at a motel called Fireside Inn, close to the beach. For a room with four persons it´s about 43 dollar per person. But if you don´t want to spend the night, it´s a perfect one-day-trip as well!

If you want to try surfing, it´s a beginner spot at Cowells Beach. You can rent boards and swimsuit on the beach for one or two hours, or for an whole day. The price is from 20 dollar and up, depending on how long time you want to rent it and how advanced board you want. You can also go with an instructor, for two hours is the price 90 dollar per person.

This was our first time surfing, and we did it without a instructor… Maybe it would have been worth those 90 dollars, because what we did was not surfing… ;-)
