Thanksgiving in the States

November the 24th…Thanksgiving day has finally come! This was a holiday I was anticipating before I got here.. besides Halloween of course, that was an epic night or day or week long holiday.

My roommates and I planned a cute little family dinner at the house, we went groceries shopping the day before and that got us so excited to cook! The dinner was for 8 people and I’m sure we had enough food for 10-12 people. We started cooking during midday, prepping the potato salad, the turkey itself takes a good 4 hours to cook and we had other dishes like lasagna, nachos, antipasti plate that were not traditional but we decided to go all out. We also had pumpkin pie for dessert, I wasn’t really into the pie so much it tasted too much like mushed up pumpkin. We even bought a cute bunch of flowers, decorated the house and dressed up for the night.

This was definitely the first best Thanksgiving I’ve experienced from cooking all day and stuffing myself to hanging with a great bunch of friends I’ve made along the way. I am so thankful to be on this exchange program and learn from these new experiences I can now call memories.
