Wrap Up

It’s the end of the semester and I’ve got to say that the teachers at SF State are so laid back and chill. I just handed my last assessment in class the other day and realised that I’m not going to see her anymore after today… I didn’t plan this part of my journey here and I’m genuinely sad to say goodbye to the teachers and all the students that I met along the way. I promised her I’d contact her in a few years time and keep her updated with how I’m doing. That right there just shows the bond between the students and teachers here in America. The time just flew by way too fast, I still rememberer the day I first moved to SF, settling into my apartment and getting to know the area and now its become a part of me.

I feel like I’m saying goodbye forever but I have to put it in a way that I will connect with these people again in the future..it feels better knowing and even saying that you’ll see them soon no matter if it was next year, 5 years or even 10 years down the track.

I can say that I have grown as a person, I’ve learnt to rely on myself at times where I need it the most whether it be deciding what nail polish colour I like or planning something crazy and sticking to it. I never really used to be so spontaneous, I would think about doing something and then not do it but these days I’ve been putting myself out there, getting to know people, TRY and start conversations and not be so damn awkward.

I am sad to leave San Francisco in the next couple of days but I am also very excited, my family is coming to visit and were going to travel to NY together. This year has been a lot of firsts for me, first time in the states, first thanksgiving, first real halloween party, first time traveling alone, first time really relying on my instincts, first time road trip with a bunch of my friends (were headed to Yosemite for the weekend tomorrow), and now first white Christmas in NY.

I’m signing off SF State Blogging for IEEC (also my first time blogging), it has been a great learning experience for me personally and would highly recommend anyone hesitant about studying abroad to just go for it, jump into the deep end and see if you float.
