#4: Accidental Tourist

While checking out the place that my family will be staying when they visit next month, I ended up wandering around the area in the boiling heat that day. I knew that Alamo Park was nearby and headed upward to where I expected it to be. Without having been there before it was a strange feeling to walk half a block up from the hotel, turn the corner and suddenly be in the middle of tourists snapping photos of the famous painted ladies. They were just right there and so was I, staring at these houses that have been made famous for their traditional San Francisco beauty. It brought it home to me that I’m in this amazing place with all this history and that there’s so much that I don’t know and haven’t seen. I’m glad I’m having a few more people come and visit because it forces me to see parts of the city I’ve never seen and get out of the same routines I’ve been stuck in. Not that that’s a bad thing, I love the places I go and the people I see there, but there is so much here and it makes me want to leave less and less.
