21 Dec Evaluation of my Exchange

Recently people have been asking me what I thought of my exchange? If I would do anything differently? and whether I would come back? Here’s my answer:

My exchange was fantastic. I visited so many exciting and cool places, met so many friendly and open people and was able to experience the American culture. What else do you want? Though I could go on and on about the positive things, I think it might be more interesting to look into the negative things. Firstly, SF is expensive AF, this hindered me in my possibilities and was constantly on my mind when I was running around in the city. Secondly the level of education was very low (This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it gave me more time to travel and enjoy myself). Furthermore, the housing situation is horrendous, and the nightlife is not as exciting as in Europe. To answer if I would come back the answer is yes. I really like the vibe in California and the city of SF. If I were to come back though, it wouldn’t be on European salary but more of a tech salary because I believe that that way you can enjoy the city from a different perspective that is probably very nice.
