Fishermans Wharf

Since becoming a temporary resident of San Francisco I have visited Fishermans wharf a number of times. As a hot bed of tourist activity there is always something going on. Of course I have tried the clam chowder on more than one occasion. The chowder is good, but the thing that blows my mind is the bread bowl. I cannot decide whether this is genius or insane. Probably just enough of both to keep it interesting. Some childish joy seems to pour out of me whenever I eat a bread bowl. Which is always followed by an adult, and very real, sense of regret. For anyone who has yet to visit the Wharf (where have you been?) I would recommend the chowder in the bread bowl, it is an inherently American experience. Once you’ve filled yourself with chowder (and probably a little bit of regret) I would also recommend a visit to the “Musee mecanique”, an interesting, if not slightly creepy, place bound to make you laugh.
