Getting in the mood for spring semester

I’ve been thinking a lot about what awaits in the spring semester so despite the fact it’s Christmas and we’ve still got the new year to get to, I thought I’d give my tips to get in the spring term mood.

1. Throw yourself into the new term. Get involved as a Gator. There are loads of clubs as well as IEEC events and commitments!
2. Go to all the places you didn’t manage to get to in the autumn term. The city has so much to offer, so explore!
3. Get ahead on reading. Don’t end up getting stuck in a rut mid-term because you’ve not read a book. Stay on top of it, and you’ll be rewarding yourself further down the line.
4. Go on cool trips. America and even just the state of California has so much to see. And you can tick some things off your bucket list at the same time.
5. Make new friends. Whilst trying new stuff and attending IEEC events, try and meet new people.
6. Start healthy habits early. Don’t put all your essays off till the night before. Keep a diary and know when your deadlines are coming up.
7. Keep a “Line a Day Journal”. Write one memorable thing a day and you can look back over it when you leave.
8. Take more pictures. Digital, film, whatever you prefer. It’s nice to have something to look back on and remember people with.
9. Make a budget. Don’t end up broke before term ends because you will worry about money and not have such a good time. By planning ahead, you’ll be far more relaxed and can do all the things you want to do!
10. See if you can get people from home to visit you! Whether it’s friends or family, you can be a tour guide and also get a taste for home!
