It took me a while to decide whether I wanted to go to the Grand Canyon or not. I thought the Grand Canyon would be overhyped and not worth the effort. I couldn’t have been more wrong when I stood at the south rim and watched the sunrise my jaw literally dropped. The vast depth of this valley is absolutely astonishing and cannot be translated into a picture or be described in words. There is a reason why there is so much talk about this place.

We went there for one day which was perfectly enough. I would recommend not paying for the extremely expensive lodging in the Grand Canyon Village, there are many housing options on Airbnb where you can sleep just 30 min away from the south rim for just half the price.

We wanted to see more of the Grand Canyon, so we decided to hike all the way down to the river. Read part two if you’re interested in what happened then.
