Hello from the other side

Hi everyone! I am Adele (yes, just like the singer), a brand new exchange student from France. I’ve left baguettes and croissants for three weeks now, and I’m really ok about it! It is kind of weird leaving home and travelling to the other side of the world to live there. A little scary at first, but it can be actually easy to find support and, little by little, get used to our new life in San Francisco.

To my eyes, this city is pretty awesome. Every district has something different to offer, a unique identity and vibe. For now, I can’t seem to decide on my favorite place. Will it be the fabulous and open-minded Castro, the colorful Mission, Union Square aka shopping heaven, the refreshing Golden Gate Park? I may have a soft spot for hippie Haight Street and its vintage shops…

At the moment, I had the chance to meet cool peeps! SF State and IEEC give you the opportunity to open up and meet great people from all over the world. I personally enjoy the “Thank God It’s Thursday” nights out; what’s better than drinking beers and bonding? Another nice happening was the Scavenger Hunt: small groups composed of exchange students wandered the city all day, discovering its secrets and fun places. My group was really wonderful, I had a great time getting to know them and walking through SF. Will we win the Cheesecake Factory prize?

Personal advice: Go out! Have fun! (Don’t speak too much French!)

XOXO, as some say here

Adele
