How to benefit from your stay in SF to start sport?

When I arrived in America, I was sure to get fat, given my love for food. So I tell to myself, why not benefit from my stay in SF to get started with sport (I mean, to eat more without getting fat…) and change my lifestyle?

To be sure to not give up my new goal, I wrote some tips to focus on my objective, that I am going to share with you!

Everyone say that the most difficult part with sport is to have the courage to getting started!

Here are some great tips to make you feel good when you start or restart sport for a long time!

1. IDENTIFY YOUR TASTES AND MOTIVATIONS

To hold on to the duration and not to let go all at the end of a week, it is necessary to clearly identify your tastes and motivations.

Tastes, first: do you prefer to practice alone or in a group? Are you rather of the kind of friend of nature, or hardened house-keeper? Rather cardio or muscular reinforcement? Do you have a particular attraction for certain rhythms, certain cultures? Draw a two-column table and write down all the details in the first, as points.

Second step: motivations. Do you want to do sports to lose weight and refine yourself? To find a nice posture, graceful movements? To breathe easier? Or just to feel good in your head and in your body? Record your motivations in the second column.

Now, it’s about targeting “the” sport you’re going to focus on. It is a personal approach, do not let yourself be influenced by the outside opinions and by the tendencies of the moment: choose an activity that corresponds to you and – especially – that you will enjoy to practice.

2. PREPARE AN ACTION PLAN

Now you have targeting THE sport need to practice, you have to organize yourself.

The goal is to know where you are going. This will allow you to work strategically, zone by zone, according to your objectives and to distribute more easily the work on the different days. Finally, it will motivate you much more to know where you are at your session, and to have filled half of your exercises.

Whether it’s the gym, a fitness program, sports classes, running, a sports coach, it’s important to plan everything to keep your program going in time.

3. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED

The results of a sports session are not seen immediately, believe me, it takes time and patience unfortunately.
Also, the first few weeks are the most difficult: it’s hard to hold on… But do not let go, because the best is to come!

Be careful, do not overdo it at first. It is not because you are going to exhaust yourself that you will progress faster. Listen to your body, be realistic and reasonable. In sport, we progress in small steps, trust me!

4. FOCUS ON YOURSELF

It is by taking time for you that you will understand how to listen to your body. Focus on yourself, on what you need and what you want. For once, be selfish and think about you!
