Inspiration

One of the things I am experiencing while studying abroad is the feeling of getting inspired – and in this case through music.

It all started at the SF got talent show in the very beginning of the semester. It was clear that a lot of young talents were present and they put on a hell of a show. The first day of school I met Jessica Kaye, a canadian girl or struggling musician as you might say, who I have been hanging out with ever since that day. Jessica is playing guitar and is a pretty damn god at it if you ask me – you can listen to her songs under the media section of this webpage. Anyhow, Jessica took on the job to teach me how to play the guitar which I was so excited about. You know how you always say to yourself: “Ohh I wanna do that” – “I wanna learn how to do that” – but somehow along the way that thing you wanted to learn disappeared with all the other things you had to do. I never thought I would have a guitar in my hands and even be able to play just small parts of a song… – well here I am and it is going in the right direction. So Jessica have taught me how to play this song by a danish artist called Tina Dickow (also known as Tina Dico in other countries) – I knew the lyrics and Jessica knew the cords and so we cooperated to make it work.

Luckily we both like this arcustic style and Jessica started to introduce me to some of the artists that had inspired her to play – which lead us to yesterday, an alley, a tourbus, freezing coldness and finally KT TUNSTALL, her autograf, a pick caught at the concert and pictures with two smiling girls and an arcustic genius of an artist.

Jessica and me have been to several concerts here in San Francisco including Something Corperate, Hanson, LIGHTS and now KT Tunstall. It has been amazing and especially LIGHT and KT Tunstall was genius – multitalents who for sure know how to inspire.

Jessica got to give her, her own recorded CD to KT Tunstall which was pretty cool and so I hope she listens to it and maybe even get inspired by a canadian girl.

Maybe in the same way as this canadian girl has inspired me. I guess what I am trying to say is that you don’t know what to expect when you go study abroad – but keep an eye open for those things that can change your life or add a bit of inspiration to your life. I will never be a famous guitarist and I don’t plan on it – but to get to play and learn something new – it has so far been a journey. One of the good ones.

Go get your inspiration people :-)
