La la land – GatorGirl

Hey SFSU’ers!

Long time no talk! I’ve recently left SF again to go on my next adventure: Los Angeles! I had been there one time before, with my mother and my sister right before I came here. I really liked it then, however I thought it was slightly overrated. But oh how this weekend has changed my mind! I went with two of my roommates and a couple of British friends; a real girls trip :) We left on Thursday night with our trusty old Flixbus, to arrive Friday morning in our hostel in West Hollywood (Banana Bungalow, would definitely recommend!!). We started off with some thrift shopping- WeHo really is a real cool area! After we walked to the Grove- one of my favorite shopping centres. It looks like a street in Disneyland, but has a lot of well known shops – the best of both worlds if you were to ask me!! We had this great idea of lounging at a rooftop pool, but dreams were killed off fast when we learned you then had to spend $50 per person… So instead we strolled around Hollywood Boulevard (hello walk of fame!), took a nap and went to the Sunset Strip to have dinner. Believe me when I tell you this is a real experience: all the pretty lights and fancy restaurants, I felt like a celebrity! After some lovely Italian food we continued to look for a bar and ended up at the Viper Room (formerly owned by Johnny Depp). Not really my scene (then what is your scene, you might ask? I’m more into clubs with dance music) but still cool to have a little peak because it is such an iconic club (Kate Moss threw her 21st birthday party there and Leo diCaprio used to be a common guest – unfortunately for me not anymore, bummer).

Saturday was beach day!! We took a shuttle to Santa Monica Pier aka my favorite part of Los Angeles, cause it looks just like all the films. Or maybe because I watched Hannah Montana the Movie a little too much and 10-year-old-me would be freaking out if she knew I would be in that exact spot 10 years later. I convinced a few of my friends to go on the ferris wheel with me and had an amazing view over Santa Monica and the beaches. Then, we walked to Venice Beach and tanned there for a bit. When we walked along the shore I got stung by a wasp, but the cute lifeguards were nowhere to be found?? Lucky for me, my friend Julie was there to help me. See- who needs boys anyways? At night we went to Boulevard3, a club in Hollywood. It looked super fancy from the outside already, and didn’t disappoint on the inside either. Large pools of water, multiple fireplaces and comfy lounge sets. If you were to describe LA with a club – this would be it. The dance floor was huge and there was a dj and a drummer (two words: SO. COOL.). However, the average age was pretty old, so we decide to try the club next door; the Warwick. Well, if you do a little Google research you’ll see that’s where Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid and much more A-listers always go. And now I know why- the club was super dark with huge chandeliers and table service starting at $1500. We had an amazing time and I felt like the new LA it-girl all night.

On the last day, we did a Beverly Hills tour and saw houses of Bruno Mars, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and Channing Tatum (helloooo I’m single too, please notice me I love you). At night, Julie and I went to the Conservatory. I saw actual Saturn (wow), and we had an incredible few of the city of angels by night. Exhausted but satisfied we returned home that night. LA, you took a little piece of my heart and I promise I’ll be back.

XOXO
