Lake Tahoe Adventures

Hey SFSU’ers!

Fall 2018 has officially started. That means pumpkin spiced everything, cosy blankets, movie nights and warm scarfs. Except for the fact that it is still 20 degrees celsius here in San Francisco and that I went a little pumpkin crazy which caused me to dislike the taste of it now. Oh well…

While we were shifting from Summer to Fall, I was on a weekend trip to Lake Tahoe. We hired a van for 15 people and stayed at this huge cabin in the woods with a jacuzzi (praise the lord for Airbnb).  Because we wanted to go there early, we left on Friday morning at 6am. While everyone was still kinda sleepy at the beginning of the ride, a few songs (and an extremely intense singalong to Bohemian Rhapsody) later everyone was pumped for the weekend. Enthusiasm even rose when we saw bears crossing the street. There was a lot of screaming and OMGs involved and it was pretty awesome. The first day we were all kinda tired from our journey, so we just chilled (and fell asleep) at the beach. Life could be worse on a Friday in September, am I right??

On Saturday we planned to go on a hike. And with hike I mean walk on a path that leads down to the lake, but hey, the way back to the car was quite steep okay!! At the lake we just did what we do best; lay down and soak in some sunshine. I even went and did a spontaneous jump into the water, only to regret this very decision a few seconds later, as I had forgotten how freezing cold the lake was. We might be in California (or technically Nevada), but it felt like I was swimming in the North Sea of Europe. Saturday evening we wanted to BBQ, but nearly set the Airbnb on fire in the process. Sausages from the pan, anybody? We explored some of the Lake Tahoe nightlife, which was way better than I expected for such a peaceful place in nature. They even have casino’s here! If you wanna go out, make sure to also bring your passport, cause they might ask for them. We had a crazy good time, and paid the price for that on Sunday, when we all didn’t feel so great. A good moment to return to home! Unfortunately for us, we got stuck in traffic which made the journey back twice as long (great!).

I was beyond happy when we drove over the Bay Bridge into the city of San Francisco again. And for the first time, it really felt like coming home..

XOXO,

Gator Girl
