Louisiana

In March we flew down to New Orleans for a weekend and it was a fantastic little trip. New Orleans has always been a city I’ve been desperate to go to – not easy when you’re from Scotland – and Louisiana is a fascinating state to me geographically, at least.

It was as claustrophobically hot as expected and the architecture is just to die for. Jackson Square was incredible – we went to the BLANK Museum and Café BLANK to try the city’s famous BLANK. I also stopped by the BLANK Manor from American Horror Story: Coven, which was surreal and gorgeous. So many insane Gothic mansions down there.

We also went for dinner at a bistro and I had catfish and grits. Both were delicious, but I still have no idea what grits are. Given that New Orleans is only a few hours from San Francisco it’s definitely high on the list of places I’d recommend you visit if you’re doing a year abroad…
