New York

I went to New York over Thanksgiving break which was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time! I ordered my flights because I randomly realized that two of my friends from Denmark were going to be in New York at the same time and I could meet up with them. Me and my one friend stayed together in two different Air Bnb’s, both in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. That was such a nice place to stay, even though we were in the gentrified, buji end of the neighborhood.

My friend used to live their, so she took me to all of her old favorite spots. We walked the Williamsburg Bridge which had an amazing view of Manhattan, went to the coolest feminist bookshop, Bluestockings, in Lower East side, walked the Highline, which is an old train track that has been made into a public garden. So beautiful! My other friend wanted to do all of the touristy things, so we went to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, looked at windows in Bloomingdales and went ice skating in Central Parks – the ice skating is fun, but it is CRAZY expensive and you don’t realize before you are in line. Maybe check other locations!

For the actual Thanksgiving dinner, we were invited by our air bnb hosts to join them for food and drinks, which was so nice. Overall, I had an amazing trip. New York is so different from San Francisco. I am definitely going back there!
