Some of the most fun I have had while I have been on exchange has been on trips with friends. I have gone camping and hiking in Big Sur twice this fall, and for Thanksgiving break some friends and I went on a roadtrip from San Francisco to Los Angeles and San Diego. We got to experience our first Thanksgiving dinner in a very Norwegian friend group, visited Universal Studios, attended LA Clippers be defeated by Utah Jazz (boo), and saw some of the best stand up comedians of South California perform. Still the best part might be the driving itself. Whether you are behind the wheel, reading the maps or maybe slouching off in the backseat the journey, the road, the sights, the road trip soundtrack is all yours. Even though you may be concerned about the environment I would recommend you to get at least a small taste of American freedom. You, a car, a highway and singing loudly along to any music you want. It does not get much better than that. Until you finally get out of the car again of course, stretching your legs never felt as good as after ten hours in a car.
