Tips for packing efficiently (and early)

As most of us are heading home for Christmas (usually via plane) none of us want to pay those nasty heavy bag fees at the airport so here are five tips to help you out:

1. Roll everything up, you can fit far more in this way! Start with heavier, bulkier items like jeans and jumpers and go from there.

2. Scales are your friend (for once)! This is super useful as you can weigh as you go.

3. Put things inside of things. Shoes are essentially wasted space – stuff your socks in there!

4. Use this opportunity to throw away things/donate them. The book store in the library takes donations and there are loads of Goodwill stores in the City and donation bins all over the campus

5. Make sure all your liquids and electronics comply with the hand baggage things. Also, make sure you have everything you need in your hand luggage. For example, it’s going to be far colder in London than it is in San Francisco, so it may be useful to have a winter jacket to hand!

Hope these tips help and you don’t end up getting patted down at security or handed an oversized baggage fee!
