Transfer literary magazine

My high school never had any kind of magazine, let alone a literary one. I lobbied for one alongside a small group of my fellow English students in our last year at school but they didn’t push. My home university also doesn’t have the kind of magazine I was looking for, so when I joined SFSU I immediately set my sights on working on a school lit magazine.

Transfer is the Creative Writing department’s baby, and it’s published twice a year and is comprised of different students’ exceptional work. You don’t need to be a Creative Writing major to submit to and be published by Transfer so it’s great to see the different kinds of people Transfer has had writing for them, from various walks of life.

I actually got to include Transfer as one of my modules in semester two so it was a lot of fun to work with the faculty advisor Dodie Bellamy, who was lovely. Our final project was actually the development of our own magazine, which I had a lot of fun doing. Transfer definitely honed my critical eye and I’m proud of my work there – I was glad to be apart of something created with such clear passion.
