Welcome to the haunted city

Halloween – the scariest holiday of the year? Halloween in San Francisco turned out not to be celebration of the dead. It was a celebration of plastic pumpkins and crammed parties. The kids had much sugar in their blood to behave. The overgrown Tinkerbells and Spongebob Squarepants had the same problem, only with alcohol.

But then, two days later, came Dia de los Muertos, the Day Of The Dead. The Meso-American holiday honors the dead and the cycle of life. A procession of candles, gothic dresses and faces painted white, accompanied by the sound of tribal drums, turned San Francisco into a city of ghosts.
