Concert Venues in the Bay Area

If your passion is life-music and you enjoy visiting concerts, you have many opportunities in the Bay Area to do it.

Here are four suggestions from my site:

1. “The Fillmore” is a popular location for indie-music and an absolute must to see if you haven’t been. The posters, the lights, the intimacy all make for a truly wonderful small venue. The most significant musical talent of the day has appeared there: Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Cream, Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Muddy Waters, The Who – well, you get the picture.

2. An other venue is “The Independent” – small venue, which is usually getting pretty full, but you still have enough space to dance and take a drink at the bar. The Independent books some very well known bands (such as The Killers just a few years back) allowing for an amazing experience that one would not get at a stadium or music festival. It’s really one of a kind. I highly recommend checking out a show here! The band I have listed to at these venue is “City of the Sun” – very energetic guitar music.

3. The August Hall is located in the heart of the city – the union square. It is a beautiful location in a victorian style building. Before it became a music venue it was a movie-theater, now it is a live music and entertainment location with special events, three full bars, and food. The bands are different – from well known like Tom Odell to small, local bands. I have seen the band “Roosevelt” which was fun, because it is a German band which I have seen in Germany three years ago already and the singer of the band is from the same city as me.

4. And finally my favorite location is “The Fox Theater” in Oakland – big, fabulous concert hall where popular singers are performing like Justin Timberlake, John Legend, The Kooks and many others. If you have the chance to check it out, do it! Even the location is worth it. I was lucky to get tickets for a show of Tash Sultana from Australia which was a lot of fun, dance and happiness.

There are so many location to enjoy life music in San Francisco and the area around – from small to big, from scruffy to luxurious. And I am sure everyone would find his favorite one!

Have fun!
